The Pink Star diamond was cut from a rough stone weighing 132.50 carats. After the diamond was cut and polished it weighed in at 59.60 carats. The color grade is a phenomenal strong hue of pink, defined officially as fancy vivid pink.

It will be organized under the "AJA Holding" company. Its goal is to promote growth and exports by encouraging international foreign direct investment for jewelry, precious stones and watch industry. Between January and November 2013, the volume of diamond production in Armenia increased 48% year on year to 78,871 carats. Belgium, China and Russia are the largest buyers of diamonds from Armenia.

Most fancy color diamonds are considered Z+ in color, which means they are not found on the regular scale of diamond grading for white diamonds. These colors are considered to be very rare and are measured by the hue of color in which they omit. The most popular colors are yellow and pink but there are other rare colors as well; these colors are red, purple, blue and green and are becoming increasingly popular but supply is very limited for these expensive items.
